This course covers Rifle Safety and the Shooting Fundamentals to get the student safely and comfortably enjoying the sport of rifle shooting. We will cover the different types of rifles and their features. Rifle administration will include loading and unloading as well as and general familiarity with various rifles and their operation. We will cover sighting-in your rifle for both iron sights and optics. The frequency of this class is based on student interest. Students are not required to have a rifle, as MFL has limited number of rifles available to rent. Those with rifle should bring their rifles in a case to class. Students should bring notebook and pen, and a snack if you like.
The first hour will cover cleaning a AR rifle and going over its features and operation, this is optional for students to attend. If rifle shooting/owning is new to the student, this portion of the class is highly recommended.
This course includes 1 hour of range time instruction with students' own firearm or MFL rented firearms (rental fee is an additional cost)- targets, eye and hearing protection are included at no cost. MFL Range ammunition is required for rentals at an additional cost. If you are bringing your own rifle, you may also bring your own ammo. Students will shoot about 100 rounds each. You will shoot during the 3rd hour. All rifles and braced-pistols are welcome in this class.
